From the seller
This Pre-owned Girard Perregaux World Time 43mm, titanium case, black dial, titanium bezel and black leather strap is in very good condition. This is number 97 of the 99 pieces limited edition released for this model. Mechanized by Girard-Perregaux calibre automatic movement. Includes 2 years Timepiece360 warranty.
The Girard-Perregaux Pour Ferrari F2003 GA Reference 4980 is based on the existing World Time Chronograph (ww.tc) model. However, the modifications made to celebrate the victory are subtle yet impactful. The watch's most striking feature is the dial, which showcases a unique blend of practicality and symbolism. Instead of the standard world time display, the dial prominently features the inscriptions "Torino" and "Maranello," cities deeply intertwined with both the history of Fiat (Girard-Perregaux's partner) and Ferrari. This geographical nod underscores the watch's dual tribute to the Italian automotive heritage.
The addition of these city names, strategically placed on the world time display, highlights Central European Time (CET) zones. This subtle yet significant modification, combined with the watch's overall design, creates a visual connection between the watch and the pinnacle of automotive racing. The case, likely in either steel or titanium, further solidifies the watch's sporty and robust character. The specific materials and details would vary based on the particular edition.
Girard-Perregaux produced a limited number of these watches, with 249 pieces crafted from steel and 99 from titanium. This limited production run, a common practice for commemorative timepieces, further enhances the watch's exclusivity and desirability. The limited availability reinforces the watch's status as a collector's item, appealing to enthusiasts who appreciate both automotive and horological excellence. The specific number of pieces produced in each material (steel and titanium) is a defining characteristic of the limited-edition status.
